Mexican Festival
4 September 2010
8am - 1pm
Join us for a special Mexican Festival Day at the market. You'll still find all your favourite goodies but on top of that we'll create a Mexican atmosphere with Mexican food, Mexican music and other Mexican interest stalls. Hope we'll see you there.
Hazel Food Market is your oyster when it comes to finding mouthwatering produce. Descend upon this energetic food market every Saturday. Follow your nose, or gravitate towards the stalls with snaking queues – always indicators of quality grub. A world of cuisine means everyone is catered for. You’ll find anything from fresh fruit, veggies and meat to yummy tarts and sweets, fresh as can be breads, all types of ready-to-eat meals, frothy cappuccino, mouthwatering milkshakes, beautiful flowers, homegrown herbs, deli-style products and much more.
We are open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm in Hazelwood, in the heart of Pretoria’s Old East. We are located on 32 Pinaster Street in Hazelwood. There are benches scattered all over where you can relax with a cappuccino while the kids play on the jungle gym and jumping castle. The aim of the Hazel Food Market is to bring residents of Pretoria fresh products straight from the producer at a convenient authentic food market.
La Petite France Cheese wins award
In May, La Petite France won the ‘2010 Eat In Produce Award’ for best dairy product in South Africa by a small producer for their Brie. Only a year on the market since its creation, La Petite France Brie is fast catching up with the popularity of the better-known La Petite France Camembert, although historically Brie is the older cheese, with Camembert as a later variant. Originating in the Brie region of France in the 5th century, the emperor Charlemagne’s preference for this cheese is said to have been the reason for Brie being called the “King’s Cheese”.
Recently La Petite France has also launched a “Naked Fig Preserve”. The preserve is a perfect accompaniment to both the Brie and Camembert, and can serve as a perfect introduction to these cheeses for those who are unaware of the world of taste that lies beyond mass-produced cheeses.
